Challenge

Frequency and number of customer scans decreasing

With our revenue being reliant on consistent usage of our product, it was concerning that the frequency and quantity of our customer’s scans were decreasing.

We discovered initial training often didn’t stick with newer customers and frequent customer preparation mistakes and the resulting errors became frustrating. Our product’s solution was being set aside for more traditional practices although they were more time consuming.

Roles I played

User Researcher, Information Architect, Interaction Designer, Design Lead

Process

Contextual inquiries, customer interviews, support team discussions, design studios, rapid iteration

Our iterations landed on an informative element (the “Guide Drawer”) appearing in the product at the time when the customer needed it. Images, animations, video and easily accessible documentation walked them through the processes they were currently implementing.

Outcome

26% error rate reduction

Educating the user and being there when they needed the information reduced a lot of frustration and increased satisfaction and usage.

Reduced support calls

Less errors of course lead to less support calls, reducing the burden of our support team. Less burden equals more happy.

Challenge

Pathologist team struggling to maintatin work load

The Zoetis pathologists are under a twenty four hour, international time crunch and were struggling to maintain quotas and promises.

Research revealed our pathologists using external apps and using long work arounds to handle some tasks that could be greatly improved upon.

Roles I played

User Researcher, Information Architect, Interaction Designer, Design Lead

Process

Contextual inquiries, customer surveys, rapid iteration

A global audience required many different languages to be handled smoothly - to be read and replied to. We were able to integrate live translation into our product. Also, when receiving a test related to previous tests or patients, the need to find and review them quickly was vital. By bypassing a clunky search system and cut-and-paste practices, we were also able to put all related tests into one easy to find one-click display.

Outcome

Decreased case times

Bringing automatic language translation into the product itself and a fast, effective way to see all needed tests at once, kept the pathologists in app and their flow uninterrupted.

Fulfilled company promises

Spending less time translating and searching for related tests enabled the pathologists to better achieve their quotas and fulfill company promises.
